I guess my summer is nearly complete. I begin working at my new job full-time on September 1st. On the one hand, I'm really really excited about what I get to do and about finally start working in healthcare but on the other hand I'm a little apprehensive about jumping straight into my first full-time job. We don't even get Labor Day off!
To prepare for this momentous life-changing occasion I have finally gotten a car. It's a 90 Acura Integra LS (which means it has a souped up engine and racing seats) and I'm getting to be pretty proficient in driving my car (which happens to be manual.) No definite names yet, but I'm entertaining suggestions. It is by no means an amazing car but it is a pretty sweet deal for a first car.
Working backward, my time in Yosemite with Sheila & co. was amazingly fun. I became exceedingly attached to this little orange kitten at a party Sheila and I went to on Saturday night (and have since gone into orange kitten mourning) and even went so far as to contemplate sneaking it home. I also enjoyed Tracy, Veronica Mars, Wii Just Dance, Taio Cruz, Yosemite Falls, "ELMER!!!", The bear, trading diaries, The Best Ice Cream Cone I Have Ever Had in My Entire Life, Yosemite busses, "This could have been a better idea," In-n-Out, Sheila singing me lullabies on the long car ride home, Hot Tub Time Machine, and Ozzie.
I didn't enjoy car troubles, mosquitos, dirty pools, the almost-perfection of my sundress, not getting to meet Andrew and go to Idyllwild. But all in all it was a great trip.
Ultimate Frisbee season is also officially over. We had our final playoff on Thursday against the Pan Galactic Groovesquad. Despite missing 4 of our best players we still finished a spirited 9-15. Not great, but we played hard. It was a frustrating end to the season - we finished in 2nd place, the Groovesquads were poor sports, I wasn't on my game, but I still had a blast playing summer ultimate. Afterward a few of the UW guys, Luke, Alexander, Louie, Grace, and I stayed on and played fliers up for probably another two hours until the lights went off. We then got Dick's and that was a really fun after party. I'm definitely going to play summer league again next year if Spencer puts it together and I'm also going to look into UW women's (which I definitely wouldn't make A team since they're took 9th at 2010 nationals) and also UW coed because they need more girls (and also frisbee guys are hot.)
As far as movies and stuff to review, I honestly don't think anyone reads them/cares (I only occasionally reference them for future choices) and I'm feeling slightly sorry for myself because my entire family ditched me at home to go do other stuff so I'm just going to end here.
I plan on making the most of my last week of summer and you should too!

A whole lot can change in six days
It's June! So why is it raining, cloudy, and cold?
At times I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle against the lethargic northwest weather. It can't be bothered enough to get really hot or really cold so it just kind of clouds over and leaks.
Thanks a lot.
However, in brighter news I just finished my final English research paper which incidentally happens to be the final English paper to the final undergraduate English class I'll ever have to take. Good riddance. I am celebrating this joyous occasion with a momentary break which I'm using to post on my blog. Now all I have left in the quarter is my oral defense of paper, possible psych final, golf paper, and my STUPID HATEFUL SPANISH ORAL FINAL. 7-14 minute presentation on (for me) Bolivian wind instruments as well as Bolivian history and geography all in Spanish and all memorized. My teacher changed my assignment at the last minute which is why I'm presenting on something as boring as Bolivian wind instruments. I was going to talk about Spanish card games (did you know there is a separate Spanish set of playing cards?) and board games but...whatever. I'm done complaining.
This week is a big week for me. Although one stalker commented on my apparently distasteful use of lists, I resent those implications and present another list:

Sunday is registration/service project/site seeing then basically from 6am Monday morning to about 6 or 7pm Thursday night or sometime Friday afternoon if I make finals, non-stop competition. When I'm not competing I'm preparing and when I'm neither competing nor preparing I'm catching a precious few hours of sleep. Although Ali and I have concocted an ambitious plan to watch a classic horror movie each night we're at Nationals so the sleep part might not actually happen.
My schedule for this coming week also fails to mention my necessary trip to the mall to get my ears pierced and get some last minute clothes for graduation and nationals as well as setting up my interview for ElderHouse NW (local Americorps site...fingers crossed)

2010
Well! It's a new year. And that makes me happy.
It's also a new quarter, which leaves me less than enthralled.
However, as with any milestone, I will detail what I hope to accomplish in this next year. Looking back on this list from this time last year, I actually did pretty much all of it! Yay me. :)
2010:
My courses for this quarter are PolSc 203 - International Relations, Math 141 - Pre-Calculus, and Span 122 - Spanish II. Should be fun. 15 credits richer; another quarter older. And life goes on...
It's also a new quarter, which leaves me less than enthralled.
However, as with any milestone, I will detail what I hope to accomplish in this next year. Looking back on this list from this time last year, I actually did pretty much all of it! Yay me. :)
2010:
- GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL. EHRC graduation valedictorian, possibly but not probably STHME as well. STHME conflicts with nationals, and in this case nats definitely trumps a 2nd graduation.
- Start UW. I will continue to live at home for the first year to save money but transitioning into a 4-year campus environment and getting involved with UWish things will definitely be fun. But the best part is that I've taken all the toughest classes in running start so all I have left are 4 pre-recs then electives.
- Get a car. Hopefully. It's a priority, but we'll see if it actually happens. In order to get a car -
- Get a job. Necessary to buy a car, car insurance, and gas. Probably wouldn't have said job as a means to make $$$ for college, but rather to pad my personal spending $$$.
- Visit Sheila. Hopefully for her graduation/our Yosemite graduation camping trip. I really miss her and it will be really good to see her again.
- Club Rust. Possible - sort of depends on a few things. I have enough money for it though, so I'm tentatively planning on it.
- Turn 18. Inevitable. Smoke, vote, buy porn (KIDDING), and generally enjoy being an official adult. 2010 will be a great year for voting. :D
- Volunteer more. I want to get more involved in Blessed Sacrament and my new Dominican home-away-from-home the Newman Center.
- Nationals/State. My goal this year is to be a state champion in at least 1 event, trophy in at least 2 (should be 3...making state finals isn't that hard.) and earn Nationals hardware. I'm hoping to go to nats in SC and make it to semis. Then I get a trophy. Otherwise I'd do EC and Expos for supps and hopefully make it to finals or semifinals thereby securing either a trophy and recognition on the stage in front of 4000 people or a little plaque. If I get eliminated from supps in time then storybook. Oh yeah, and the cool thing about supps finals is doing the final on stage in front of a few hundred people. No pressure. Actually I'm cool performing in front of as many people as possible with memorized speeches, but I still get a little freaked with impromptu or extemporized speeches, particularly the latter.

Updates of a general nature
Well, so I went to another tournament.
It was snohomish, the 7 and 8th. And it was fun, mostly. I finally know how they determine stuff in the base system in congress now, so I am really going to pour my energy into getting fewer, better, ranks (I went 5,7,7,7 which is fine but not enough for a trophy since we were only on base two.) Also, it was disappointing in DI since there were only 8 of us and I went 3,4,2. My friend Sam (he's awesome :) ) got 1st, which he totally deserved, but I was disappointed in my performance and annoyed that the judges gave me such low scores without saying WHY. I hate that. But so I'm going to be working hard on that, and it kind of was ironic because the only thing I wasn't trying in I trophied in. Open Impromptu had like 40some odd entries and I just went to my rounds and gave my lil speeches and I got to finals with straight ones. SO WEIRD! So I'm in finals right, with like 6 other competitors (although the great thing about open impromptu finals is that lots of people come to watch since you're supposedly so good.) It was fun to walk into the room and have like 20 people there or whatever watch. It was probably more, I don't remember. I gave my speech last, got last (or at least didn't medal, they don't rank past 3rd) and got a tacky little medal and ribon. So my impromptu this season has gone 1,1,1 1,1,1,5. Amazing! hahaha, wow. Who would have thought this year I'd be aceing my sla cker event? Oh well, take what I can get, right? :)
Arlington's in a week and a half, and I'm supposed to be doing HI but I think I'll wait and see if cho's going for imp - if he isn't I'll do that since it would be freaking amazing if I got 1st (and a state bid) in FRIKIN impromptu! I'd say impromptu is the hardest state bid, followed by extemp. But that's just me.
It was also fun to see people I hadn't seen since Vegas, and hopefully they'll be doing more judging this year. My parliamentarian, Brandi Spani, is amazing, she went to nats my freshman year (we were in the same congress room, it was my first time, and I remember congratulating her after she qualed and she saying I was going to be an amazing congressman.) and she's been my parliamentarian the past two years at snohomish. I really like her, and she gives me helpful tips and stuff that the judges won't tell me since it's not diplomatic. (for example "you need to dumb down your speeches because the other senators can't figure out what you're talking about.") And she's SUPER no-nonsense, which is really helpful, and yeah, she's cool. Plus my friend Colin (yes, that Colin) has offered to coach me in Congress and Impromptu (and pufo for that pack Ali and Erika and I made) so it should be good.
But I'm really hungry right now and I'm at school and my bus doesn't come for a while and I'm really tired and weak because I'm so tired and hungry and I could go do some chemistry but I feel rather like a sack of potatoes. Maybe I'll just do the reading and not the problems. :) I like that idea.
Unfortunately my biology class next year starts at 8:30, and I was really hoping I'd get to sleep in, but fortunately it's only 3 days a week so I guess I'll still get to sleep in a little. Horray.
I have found that saying I discovered "Social Life, Good Grades, Adequate Sleep. Pick two - Welcome to College!" to be disturbingly accurate. (my response? Less socializing, more sleeping. :) ) And now I think I've wandered into the field of babbling incoherently and rambling past any hope of structure or organization. Give my love to you all and I hope to see each of you soon.

Because I haven't posted in a long time...
Hello. I am a wonderful person. You are all wonderful people as well. That is why we're friends! I had a wonderful Easter. I had a beautifully amazing Easter vigil as well. Blessed Sacrament is stunning, and Jesson outdid himself as normal. It was simply magnif and I need to you guys!
Madeline: it's movie night time.
Curti: it's sleepover time.
Grace: it's brownie time.
Other peoples: it's party time!
Send my love to the ducks. (haha! ducks!)
Nothing too abnormal has happened in my life since the beginning of March. I'm goign to Vegas as a bystander most likely, and also most likely going to CA to visit yonder Bernhofts. I started drivers ed and have my permit now. :D And Lent is Over! Easter is Here! ALLELUIA!
Oh! I forgot; I found out why Daffy Duck is crazy! He apparently worked at a merry-go-round and rode the horse with the lavender eye with all the wicked girls. ;) Explains a lot about Looney Tunes. :)

A variety of things...
Hello dear readers!
First of all, Happy Eve of the Feast of St. Lawrence!
Second of all, Happy Eve of the Birthdays of my mother and Raph!
Third of all, I have an awesome new friend named Br. Peter Junipero O.P.
I met him while he was out visiting and we had a really awesome conversation about vocations. So he's my spritual prayer partner. He is so cool!
Next, I have an inspirational passage from the Blithsdale Romance which I am currently reading thanks to the pen of my good friend Nathaniel Hawthorne.
"'Die in a ditch!' muttered gruff Silas, with genuine Yankee intolerance of any intermission of toil, except on Sunday, the fourth of July, the autumnal cattleshow, Thanksgiving, or the annual Fast. 'Die in a ditch! I believe, in my conscience, you would, if there were no steadier means than your own labor to keep you out of it!'"

It's been a while......
Hey ya'll. I know I told Deirdre I would post on Tuesday, but life has been busy, so I didn't. Here's a general report of my life, because I never seem to be able to talk about anything but myself.
Speech and Debate has been quite fun, we're in the middle of our fundrasier, 'flamingo flocking' it's so fun! But I don't feel like explaining it.
I've expanded my e-pal list considerably. I have Rachel in Florida, Monica in Alberta, Grace in Arkansas, Lauren in New York, Kat and Lenore in in Iowa, Emma in Hawaii, Emily in Illinois and Franny and Theresa in California. I love them all so much...it's awesome having all those friends! (Oh, Louie just dialed the rejection hotline...:D:D:D:D:D) Speaking of which there's www.rejectionhotline.com I haven't checked it out...but I invite you to!
Metalworking has been super fun! I've made a copper spiral ring, a silver ring with a peach moonstone setting, another copper spiral ring but this one is melted to a beautiful rich red. I don't remember the technical term, but it's gorgeous. :D I also made a copper spiral necklace which matches the red ring. Louie is begging me to go play basketball...so I'll have to make this brief!

Daniel's 25th anniversary jubilee and I saw someone that I haven't seen in like 4 or 5 years. It was INCREDIBLE. I saw him/her walk into the parish hall and I kind of looked over the person I was talking to and my jaw dropped. I was so extatic! OH MY GOSH IT WAS SO COOL!!!!!!!! (and no, it wasn't the ice cream man...)
I suppose I should go now...I hope you guys have a wonderful Easter season and I'll try to at least post twice a month from now on :P

Speech and Debate has been quite fun, we're in the middle of our fundrasier, 'flamingo flocking' it's so fun! But I don't feel like explaining it.
I've expanded my e-pal list considerably. I have Rachel in Florida, Monica in Alberta, Grace in Arkansas, Lauren in New York, Kat and Lenore in in Iowa, Emma in Hawaii, Emily in Illinois and Franny and Theresa in California. I love them all so much...it's awesome having all those friends! Metalworking has been super fun! I've made a copper spiral ring, a silver ring with a peach moonstone setting, another copper spiral ring but this one is melted to a beautiful rich red. I don't remember the technical term, but it's gorgeous. :D I also made a copper spiral necklace which matches the red ring.
