Snohomish Invitational 2007!!!!!!!!!!

Hello wonderful people!

I am in happiness right now due to the events of Friday the 16th and Saturday the 17th of November. :D
Not that I think you all care so much, but I want to remember this tournament, so I'm going to describe it, and you can read as much/little as you want.

Friday
We had a full van! Ali competed in LD, Kelsey came to watch, Josh was in the House, and Jonathan and I were in the Senate. I gave my authorship speech for my coffee resolution and a neg. speech on a resolution to decrease airport security during the first half. There was only one guy who did congress at Gig Harbor as well, a dude from Central Kitsap. The second half (oh, by the way, the room we were stuck in was like a TOMB and was SO COLD) I acted as P.O. (presiding officer, the wielder of power) for the first hour, then gave an aff. speech concerning giving prisoners the option of taking army time instead of jail time. It was pretty fun, and I was in the top six speakers. :) Unfortunately, Shorecrest also had three speakers in the top six, and those three advanced to the top three and consequently swept the speaker awards. (idiot shorecrest, they're almost as bad as snohomish)

Saturday
I got to sleep in on Saturday! We had to be at the park n' ride at 7 which was way later than usual. ;) We got a nice table in the commons and at about 9:30 Elliot, Erika, Henry, and Alex joined us. Kelsey, Kallie (judging), Ali, Kate, and I rode down in the van. Kate and I watched Ali's 4th LD round before the speech postings were up, and he had a WAY biased judge. Dawna actually got mad at him, which is very unusual for her. She kind of huffed and got up and left as soon as the round was over, and Kate and I just kind of looked at each other. That judge sucked. So for each 3 DI rounds I was in rm 18, with the other 5 contestants in open DI. Competition for that event was stiff, and I decided optimistically I hoped for 3rd. Impromptu was loads of 'fun', because I hadn't given an impromptu speech since March, and each of my rooms had either 8 or 7 competitors (the normal amount for a room is around 4 or 5) which meant a lot of 5th places. My first speech was good, second SUCKED! (Elliot came and watched me that round) and the third speech was okay. I didn't make it to impromptu finals (big surprise, I was surprised with the people who actually did make it to finals. But instead we went to watch Open Duo finals in which 2 of the 3 teams competing were FROM OUR SCHOOL!!!!!!!!! It was a super fun round. :D The room was PACKED, and our humorous Duo received lots of laughs, as did the funny parts in our dramatic Duo. Afterwards, seeing as how the tournament was running obscenely late, I went over and talked to my friend Catherine from Snohomish for like half an hour until they announced awards. I was pretty nervous, but not as nervous as I normally am. ;) Perhaps after 8 tournaments I'm finally calming down. ;) They called DI first of the events in which our team competed, and there were three awards. Duo was second, and our team took first and second. (OMG IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!) Erika and Elliot will be representing our District at State in March, since they won first. :D Ali also won first in Novice for his Oratory, and the rest is history. It was one of the happiest nights thus far, and I made two friends on the Kingston team *blush. Apparently we are going to have double-practices with their team since we're so close to them and we both have small but good schools. ;) As for MY RESULTS from Snohomish, if you couldn't tell, I got 2nd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Way to go, Peachy! I'm proud of you. By the way, the colors on your blog remind me of bubble gum. Yum! ;)

I like your colors. They remind me of cotton candy. I'm glad you did so well in Snohomish.
